I saw The Uninvited (A Tale of Two Sisters remake) last night and it was pretty much the same old same old as far as remakes go--pointless, uninspired, louder, less scary.
Pretty dull and silly, especially when compared to the original.

Now that summer is winding down and I'll have a bit more free time to watch some movies, I'll be posting more often again. Not to mention Halloween is just around the corner. Is anyone else excited for Survival of the Dead? The new Romero flick?

I haven't seen a trailer for it or anything, but hey I'm a Romero fan. So I'm looking forward to it regardless.

I'm not really 100% sure what I think from the trailer that I saw on Myspace, but hey I really haven't been dissapointed with any of the Romero dead films. It def looks like he went back to the same style he used on Diary of The Dead, as far as a more low budget type film, which should be good, cause I think he works better that way.

Helloooooooooooooooooooo. It's been forever. Again. I've been watching bad stuff, yes I have. I saw The Reaping, The Eye remake, AVPR, and a P.O.S VHS tape of a vampire movie called Children of the Night.I guess The Reaping was okay, but everything else was awful. Well, AVPR was stupid, but watchable, but Children of theNight was the suck. I am planning to watch Splinter and a few other great ones with Braden next month.

My bassplayer and I watched Return of The Living Dead and Shaun of The Dead last night, he hadn't seen either of them lol! I think he got a kick out of both of em!
And I also realized I can just never, ever get sick of either one of those movies. I still enjoy them both as much as I did, if not more than when I first saw them.

So I finally caught up with the Friday the 13th series. I now only have Jason X and Freddy v. Jason to watch. My ratings/rankings so far:
1. Jason Lives (1986)-85 2. The Final Chapter (1984)-84 3. Part II (1981)-83 4. Friday the 13th (1980)-80 5. The New Blood (1988)-76 6. The New Beginning (1985)-71 7. Jason Goes to Manhatten (1989)-68 8. Part III (1982)-66 9. Jason Goes To Hell (1993)-45
Plus the remake, Friday the 13th (2009)-63
My favorite: The Final Chapter
Favorite Kill: Dude in the wheelchair (absolutely brutal and shocking)
Best Character: Duke (from Jason Goes to Hell), followed by Tommy Jarvis and Shelly from Part III
Best Female Protagonist: Tina, because she can move shit with her mind
Scariest Entry: Part II (Bagheaded Jason running around in the woods is creepy, plus freaky ass ending)

Okay, what we have here is a dead forum, and that's a shame. But we can certainly remember the good times, and how things used to be back in the old days. The fact remains that the nasty split really helped kill things, and of course Rebort abandoning us without explanation didn't help matters (he's still a wanker in my eyes).
Anyways, I'd like to thank the Axis of Evil for being awesome, in that it really got me into horror. Before I sent foot in the RT version of the thread many years ago as a poster still considering a n00b, I had only seen a handful of movies from the genre. I wasn't even really a fan, and I had no knowledge of movies really anyways. The Axis helped build that love of all things horror, and along with the Film Discussion Thread really made me into the movie lover I am today. For that, I am truly greatful and won't ever forget it.
Man there have been so many members of the AOE, some that I still keep in touch with on other sites, while too many have faded away for whatever reason. Back when the site was booming and had reputation, I recall the great jokes, the debates over certain movies, the fact that I met people like Sauron and spikegirl who were just flat out cool, along with the many different members of the group.
Even when the site started to die out as things got heated (being at a summer camp without a computer, I missed out on the whole mess), there were still some awesome momements that happened. Oh and because of the AOE I finally wrote my first large film essay on Night of the Living Dead (1968), which still needs to be revised and is probably the only thing I've ever written that I truly love.
So here's to the good times as well as the bad, and the memories of course. I'd like to think I did my part along with others to try and save this place, but it didn't die because any one factor or any person. Nothing lasts forever, but the great things always remain in the back of our minds. Cheers folks, and horror movies will always rule.
